This is a way to track successive wins amongst animals competing in Canada's halter and fleece show system nationally across the country. By utilizing points awarded to placements at select shows, it is possible to track consistent placements amongst multiple shows and classes, and from there award end of year recognition of highly successful animals and their respective breeding programs.
For an animal to be eligible to earn points, to then be recognized and to compete for the Alpaca Canada Annual Awards, the animal must be a CLAA registered alpaca, owned by a member who is in good standing with Alpaca Canada and the CLAA, and the animal must be shown in an Alpaca Canada sanctioned event.
Points are assigned to animals based on a tiered system that is determined by placement and number of entries in eligible classes. Points can only be earned in classes outlined in the ACSS; as such points cannot be earned for specialty classes not identified in the rules, such as Best Head or Best Handle. More points are allotted for higher placements earned in larger classes, to reflect the increased level of competition present. Point allotments and their corresponding placements can be found below.
